ISSA Events and Activities - Fall 2015

Dear ISLT family,

Here we are again, ready for a new and exciting semester! At ISSA, we are happy to announce the calendar of events and activities for this Fall. Please, mark your calendar and keep on checking your email for further details on the events and activities to come.

August 26, 5:30 pm, Morgan Studio: ISLT Students Meeting
If you are a new (or not so new) ISLT student and want to meet your fellow ISLT students for some peer-advise, join us at the first students meeting of the year.

September 5, 5 pm, College of Education area + Doak Campbell Stadium: Tailgating + FSU vs Texas State Football Game. 
The real Nole experience. If you have never watched a football game live, if you have never been to the Doak Campbell Stadium, if you have never sung together with other 80,000+ Noles, you should get started with your fellow ISLT students. Experienced Noles are welcome too! Please, “buy” your own free ticket.

September 20, 1-3 pm, The Rez: ISLT Potluck Lunch.
Join the ISLT family at our traditional Fall potluck. Bring your favorite food and drink and enjoy recipes from all over the world. Significant others are welcome.

September 25, 12-1 pm, location TBA: ISSA Professional Development Series – An introduction to AECT. 
Invited Speaker: Dr. Anne Mendenhall (University of Nevada, Las Vegas)
Come to learn about AECT, the most important professional organization in the ID&T field, with Dr. Anne Mendenhall, the AECT Design and Development Division director.

October 9, 12-1 pm, location TBA: ISSA Professional Development Series – Stimulating Learner Motivation: ARCS-V Model Characteristics, Applications, and Example. 
Invited Speaker: Dr. John Keller (Professor Emeritus, Florida State University)
We are honored to have Dr. John Keller talk about his ARCS-V model. In his words, “This presentation will describe how both instructional and motivational design play a role in the creation of effective and appealing learning environments and will then focus on the model formerly known as ARCS (attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction) which has recently been expanded to include the concept of volition; hence, ARCS-V model.”

October 30, 12-1:30 pm, location TBA: Research Mixer Session.

November 19, 6-8 pm, location TBA: Movie Night. 
Join ISSA for another inspirational and fun movie night – the movie title will be announced soon. A discussion will follow the screening.

December 4, 6:30 pm, Sakura Sushi: Dinner.
Let’s end the semester the best way possible! Join your fellow ISLT students for great food and a lot of fun. Significant others are welcome.
