Lectora Workshop 3/30/18

Dear ISLT Students:

Please mark your calendar: ISSA will facilitate one free workshop to introduce Lectora Online and its basic features. Yao Huang, an ISLT doctoral student, and former Lectora Certified trainer will facilitate the session. By the end of this workshop, you should be able to create an interactive HTML-based eCourse with Lectora Online. This is one of the ISSA development workshop series. Lectora Online is a web-based authoring platform with no need to install on your computer. ISLT still has 10 Lectora Online license good through the end of May 2018.

If you are interested, please send an email to Yao Huang at yh15b@my.fsu.edu to request a free access. Yao will email you the login information.

APATMS (Technology, Mind, and Society) Conference

April 5-7 in Washington D.C.

The APATMS (Technology, Mind, and Society) conference is hosted by APA (American Psychology Association) and ACM (association for computing machinery) and serves as a kind of special interest group meeting specific to the field of artificial intelligence, virtual or mixed reality, and data mining (or learning analytics) issues.

ISLT professor Dr. Fengfeng Ke and ISLT doctoral student Jewoong Moon (Jay) will be presenting on the effect of virtual-reality based social skill training for autistic children. The study was a single-subject design research to review how autistic children behave and their social skills across different types of social settings in VR. Follow updates about this conference using hashtag #APATech18.

Adobe Captivate Workshop

ISSA Development Workshop Series: Adobe Captivate 101

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to create a basic lesson with Adobe Captivate. This is one of the ISSA development workshop series. Our next workshop will be about Lectora Online and it will be in late March.

Statistical Methods and Data Analysis Workshops on May 5-8

The Political Science Department and the Political Science Graduate Student Association (PSGSA) are hosting its annual methods workshop from May 5th to May 8th.
The topics are Bayesian statistics and Big Data.
No registration is required. If you are interested in these topics, come and learn. All students and faculty members are welcome!

FSU Manuscript Clearance workshop for College of Education Students

Attention all ISLT doctoral students and thesis-track master's!
If you have any question about formatting or submitting your thesis or dissertation, this workshop will give you the right answers. Pamela Brown, the Manuscript Clearance advisor, has once again offered to give a workshop on formatting and submitting the thesis or dissertation exclusively for the College of Education faculty and students.The workshop will also address issues of copyright, IRB/ACUC approvals, and other questions that may arise during the process.

Dr. Dennen and Dr. Becker Gave a Workshop at Uttaradit Rajabhat University, Thailand

Vanessa Dennen along with EPLS Department Chair Betsy Becker represented FSU by giving a workshop at Uttaradit Rajabhat University (URU) in Uttaradit, Thailand. Dr. King Beach of IERD Consultancy also presented at the workshop. The workshop topic was Instructional Systems and Research Methods.

The workshop was attended by the Faculty of Education and International College, and arranged by the Education Dean (and FSU PhD Alum in Measurement & Statistics), Dr. Rapin Posrie.

 

 

FSU has a Memorandum of Understanding with URU, and will be engaged in both student and faculty exchanges. Our Thai colleagues were wonderful hosts, providing a day of local sightseeing and holding a special dinner with traditional Thai dances performed by URU students and karaoke.

 

 

Save the Date: Developing a Curriculum Vitae workshop

On November 4th 12:00PM-1:00PM there will be a workshop for students on Developing a Curriculum Vitae.  Christen Perry from the career center will presenting the workshop. It will be in the Stone building, room 3303.

When you are looking for a job, often the first impression you are going to give is the one that the employer will remember. Think of your vita as an extension of that first impression. In order to get your foot in the door and be considered for an interview, you need to have a stellar curriculum vita. Your curriculum vita needs to be effective in showing off your skills, attributes, experiences, and well YOU! Join us for this workshop so you can learn how to develop your vita. Another perk is getting to spend time with other students in our program. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
