Photos: ISLT Students Meeting, Last Friday

We had a productive conversation at the ISLT Students Meeting, last Friday. All students had a chance to learn about academic life on campus and out of campus from each other. We realized that there are many opportunities to learn and to get assistance including financial supports.  Here are some photos on that day :)

Next ISSA event is ISSA Professional Development Series - Big Data. It will be on April 3rd, at 12-1 pm. In the Morgan Studio, Professor. Ken Armstrong (Program in Interdisciplinary Computing, FSU) will come and talk about issues surrounding the accumulation, transformation, and analysis of large datasets typically encountered in both business and research environments.
We hope to see you all there!

ISSA Activities - Schedule change and more

Dear ISLT family,

We have some news regarding the ISSA activities for this term. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule Prof. Armstrong talk on big data, which was originally scheduled for April 10th, the same day of the Marvalene Hughes Research in Education Conference (a.k.a., the CORE conference).

Prof. Armstrong's talk is now scheduled for April 3rd at 12 pm, Morgan Studio, Stone Building. This talk is a great opportunity to hear about a topic that is increasingly attracting attention, both in the business sector and academia. We hope to see you there!

We also hope to see you at the CORE conference on April 10th; many of the ISLT faculty and students will be presenting there. This is the link to the program:http://explorefsucoe.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/CORE-program-2015-3-18.pdf

Also, save the date for the “traditional” ISLT Potluck Lunch. Dr. Val Shute will kindly host it at her place on April 11th, from 1 to 3 pm. Bring your favorite food and enjoy recipes from all over the world. Stay tuned for more information.

Finally, we had to cancel the Research Mixer session that was originally scheduled on April 3rd, but we are planning to reschedule it for this Summer.

We hope to see you soon,

The ISSA Team

Dear ISLT students,

Friday, March 20th, at 12 pm, Morgan Studio, is the first ISLT Students Meeting.
Come talk with your fellow ISLT students about important aspects of our program, such as the qualifying and preliminary exams, the next term(s) class schedule, your research interests – and even find potential collaborators. Learn about conferences, professional development opportunities, travel grants, and more.
If you have a question, there will probably be someone who will be able to answer it!

See you on Friday,

The ISSA Team
