Dr. Valerie Shute is featured in the recently released 2016 U.S. Department of Education - National Education Technology Plan. It is the flagship educational technology policy document.
Dr. Shute's work was recognized for exhibiting some of the actions and attributes key to transforming learning through technology.
"I'm honored to have my research showcased," Dr. Shute said. "In addition to describing my ideas about using assessment to support learning via real-time feedback and within game environments, a section is devoted to my stealth or 'embedded' assessment work."

The 2016 National Education Technology Plan, Future Ready Learning: Reimagining the Role of Technology in Education, articulates a vision of equity, active use and collaborative leadership to make everywhere, all-the-time learning possible. While acknowledging the continuing need to provide greater equity of access to technology itself, the plan goes further to call upon all involved in American education to ensure equity of access to transformational learning experiences enabled by technology.

Congratulations! Dr. Dennen received Transformation Through Teaching Award!

Dr. Vanessa Dennen has been received the Transformation Through Teaching award.
Transformation Through Teaching is a program established through the Spiritual Life Project to honor full-time faculty that have had an intellectual, inspirational, and integrative impact on the lives of their students.
Dr. Dennen was nominated for her transformational role in her students' academic life and was selected by the Spiritual Life Project on the basis of her students' compelling stories.

She instilled in me a passion for research and helped me broaden my interest in the ID&T field. The ISLT Alumni Council is currently planning two main events for 2016: a Spring Seminar Series and the ISLT Mini-Conference. The seminars will be scheduled for Fridays throughout the spring and the mini-conference will occur sometime in April.

New ISSA President Elections
Dear ISLT students,
As we are approaching the end of the Fall semester, it’s time to elect a new ISSA President. We are looking for nominations for/from individuals who will be willing to take the lead to serve our program. The presidency lasts for the duration of one year and some of the President's duties include:

- Maintain the rules, procedures, and policies laid out in the ISSA Constitution;
- Convene and host ISSA board meetings;
- Maintain and document the practices associated with the office;
- Represent ISSA at the annual Fall EPLS Orientation.
Note:
- The nomination period will remain open from today to Tuesday, November 24;
- Voting will begin on Monday, November 30;
- The voting period will be open for one week;
- The new President will be announced on Tuesday, December 8.

ISSA PD Series - Dr. Jeeheon Ryu: Designing and Analyzing Multimedia-based Experiments - Tomorrow 12PM

Please, mark your calendar with a new ISSA event. This Friday, November 13th, Dr. Jeeheon Ryu will give a workshop on “How to design and analyze multimedia based experiments”. The workshop will take place at 12:00 pm in Morgan Studio, Stone Building.
Dr. Jeeheon Ryu is an associate professor at the Chonnam National University and a visiting professor in ISLT at FSU. Here is the abstract of Dr. Ryu’s presentation:

The workshop is designed to guide doctoral students who want to apply experimental designs in the field of instructional design and technology. Particularly this workshop will cover multimedia based experiments. A variety of experimental designs will be presented with examples of result analysis. Step-wised guides will be provided from the beginning of experimental design to the report of experimental reports.
